Berk’s Nest presents
Alice Snedden: Self-Titled
Pleasance Courtyard – Bunker One: 1st – 26th August: 9.45pm
One of New Zealand’s fast-rising comedic stars, the meteoric Alice Snedden, brings her critically acclaimed show, Self-Titled, to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe this year.
Self-Titled is written and performed Alice who, using her extended family and unique upbringing as a backdrop for her show, explores our endlessly absurd political climate, all while cheerfully lampooning society in the process. This may be an Edinburgh Festival Fringe debut but you are most definitely in safe hands with New Zealand’s most exciting comedy export.
Nominated for a Best Newcomer at the New Zealand International Comedy Festival 2017, a 2016 Raw Comedy Quest Finalist, and a current nominee for a Billy T Award (one of the highest accolades a comedian can receive at the New Zealand Comedy Festival), Alice has distinguished herself as a comedic force on the New Zealand comedy scene. She trained and performed at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre in New York, where she completed their long form improv program. Alice debuted Self-Titled to rave reviews at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival and will head to the NZ International Comedy Festival, before venturing to the Northern Hemisphere for Edinburgh Fringe 2018.
While not performing on stage, keeps herself extremely busy as a member of the hit weekly improv show, SNORT, a co-host for the popular podcast Boners of the Heart (along with Rose Matafeo) and a columnist for the Sunday Star Times. If that doesn’t seem like enough on her plate, she is also the head writer for TV3’s multi-series hits Jono and Ben and Funny Girls.
What the press have said about Alice Snedden:
“It’s one of the most assured hours I’ve seen in the festival… Snedden doesn’t read as a newcomer doing her first hour. She reads as someone doing a victory lap. More experienced comedians would kill for an hour like this…” The Spinoff
“…An experienced performer, Snedden has the crowd on side all night…” The New Zealand Herald
“To put it simply Alice Snedden is amazing… one of the most polished first hours pf stand-up I’ve ever seen…” Keeping up with NZ
“Snedden delivers her jokes with a likeable looseness that wins you over.”
