United Agent and Gag Reflex Present
Stand 2: 4th – 28th August
This year’s most (Extra) Ordinary talent Bethany Black brings her new show to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2016. The star of Russell T. Davies’ Cucumber will be performing at the Stand 2 from the 4th to the 28th August at 6pm.
Bethany Black is an idiot. Just like you. She had two years where her life exploded; she was dumped by her fiancée and then things really went down-hill, death, illness and a fractured leg followed. Broken and on the verge of giving up – something extraordinary happened. She was cast in a starring role, becoming the first transgender person to star as a trans character on UK television, first on US broadcast television and in Doctor Who she became the first openly trans act to play a cisgender character in the world. Suddenly she’s making history, entirely by accident. But what happens when this happens and you’re an idiot?
Bethany starred in Russell T. Davies’ Cucumber-Bannana-Tofu trilogy on Channel 4 and E4, becoming the first openly transgender actress to star as a trans character on UK television and the first on US broadcast television. Following on from this she played the role of 474 in the ninth series of legendary BBC show Doctor Who becoming the first openly transgender actor to appear in the shows 50 year history. She is a former finalist in the Chortle Student Comedy Awards and was nominated for Best Debut at the 2008 Leicester Comedy Festival.
