Pleasance: Jack Dome-2nd-28th August
After a few years away recovering from her last high-paced, energetic hour, Catriona Knox is back once more at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival with Adorable Deplorable on at 6.50pm at the Pleasance Jack Dome.
It’s 2017 and some men (not naming names but you know who we’re talking about) have brought us to the brink of the apocalypse. Now it is time to meet the meat on their arm – their wives. No longer will they be silent. No longer will they be stuck at the sides of stages waiting for their moment to shine. It is now. It is here at the Fringe.
Named by the BBC as one of the emerging talents of 2017 on their New Talent Hotlist, Catriona’s broadcast credits include Charlie Brooker’s Weekly Wipe and Election Wipe, Channel 4’s Damned Series 1 & 2, BBC1’s Not Going Out, as well as 2017 hit sketch show Revolting, Suntrap, Boomers and Russell Howard’s Good News (all on BBC2). Later in the year she will appear in Roisin Conaty’s brand new sitcom for E4, Gameface.
Catriona’s first radio play Almost Like Being in Love, starring Gemma Whelan and Rosie Cavaliero, debuted on BBC Radio 4 in April of this year. She was one of a select group of comedians who were commissioned to write a debut 45-minute play in the prestigious Afternoon Drama slot (produced by ex- Commissioning Editor for Comedy and Fiction at BBC Radio 4 Caroline Raphael). Other BBC Radio 4 credits include writing and performing two series of The Boom Jennies’, Mission Improbable, as well as The Lentil Sorters and Strap In! It’s Clever Peter! (both for Pozzitive), Sketchorama and 2525, a sketch show produced and created by Matt Lucas and Ashley Blaker.
Catriona Knox is a prolific comedy writer/performer and a talented actress. With frequent live comedy performances in London and further afield, Catriona regularly showcases her talent for character comedy, both as a writer and performer, at venues including the Shaftesbury Theatre, Soho Theatre and Leicester Square Theatre in London’s West End. Catriona was also one third of all-female sketch group The Boom Jennies who have performed 6 times at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival to critical acclaim.
