Pleasance: The Attic
2nd – 27th August
Darren Harriott hits the Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2017 with his debut hour Defiant at the Pleasance Courtyard (The Attic) from the 2nd – 27th August at 9.30pm.
Following on from an appearance on Russell Howard’s Stand Up Central (Comedy Central), and a successful Edinburgh 2016 as part of the prestigious Pleasance Reserve, Darren returns to the fringe festival with his debut show, which is surprising, insightful, and perhaps most importantly, very funny.
Three things are guaranteed in life – failure, strong opinions, and death. Darren’s debut is about all three, and how, on the 11.32 train from Birmingham to Stafford, several pivotal moments from his life came crashing together.
It’s a funny and thought-provoking debut, from one of today’s most exciting up-and-coming comedians that takes a look at issues including mental health, family relationships, and personal responsibility.
Skilfully segueing between the main narrative and topics including politics, race, his career working in security, terrorists, his family, and religion – Darren keeps the audience engaged with his great storytelling and brilliant gags.
As heard on BBC Radio 4 Extra Stands Up.
