The Voodoo Rooms: French Quarter
6th – 29th August
The sassy and energetic comic, Elf Lyons, is returning to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe with her brand new show Pelican. She will be performing at the Voodoo Rooms from the 6rd to 29th August at 7:50pm. Having been named this year as “One To Watch” on the Media Eye and by The British Comedy Guide, she is definitely set to be an exciting stand-out act at the Fringe.
Elf is not scared of her vulnerabilities, in fact she uses them to bring out the ‘sass’ in her personality and performance. Her new show sees her taking on the age-old question: “Will I turn in to my mother?” Pelican focuses on pressures to ‘have it all’ as a young woman, prompted by her love / hate relationship with her mother. As a young female comic she ponders whether she can have the marriage and the kids but moreover: should she have them? And does she even need them?
Elf’s Underground Successes performance at the Edinburgh Festival 2014 led to two nights at the Leicester Square Theatre and numerous five star reviews. Additionally Being Barbarella which became part of VAULT Festival 2015, and was crowd funded to go to Adelaide Fringe where it received an extended run and five star reviews. Being a regular performer and M.C on the UK comedy circuit (and finalist in the Funny Women competition in 2013) is just the tip of the iceberg for the L’Ecole Philippe Gaulier student, who has already performed all around the world at leading arts festivals in the UK, Europe and Australia.
Elf’s talent also lies in organising The Secret Comedian 2013, showcasing clowns, mimes, puppetry and stand up comedians and was featured on Reuteurs and London Live. Additionally, Elf has successfully tried her hand at directing, earning 2012 Audience Award for Best Director at Offcut Festival. Her comedy opera The Wolves Descend by Little Rooms Production was performed at Fringe and the Lion and Unicorn Theatre and she co-directed Sitting with Thistle.
