BBC New Talent Hot List 2017
British VOGUE’s ‘Twenty Names of Now’ 2016
Media Eye Rising Star 2016

Elf Lyons, the giraffe-limbed raconteur and multi-talented wonder, is back with her most ambitious and eccentric stand-up show yet. After three fantastic years of performing on the Free Fringe, this year Elf will be performing at the Underbelly Clover at 9.30pm. Drawing on her skills and training from L’Ecole Philippe Gaulier (as well as taking on specific new training for the show), expect a fabulous mash-up far surpassing a regular-stand up show: with elements of story-telling, mime and even ballet….

Yes: Elf Lyons is performing a full scale one woman production of Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake – in an hour and possibly in French… – using whatever she can find on the day. Because she doesn’t think Tchaikovsky knew that much about Swans. For example, did you know that swans are not monogamous creatures? Neither did Tchaikovsky…. And so Elf explores and shares with us the quirks of their sexual activities, drawing parallels to our own, to take on intriguing topics of polyamory, monogamy and fidelity in this “anything-is-possible” hilarious and ambitious hour.

Over the past few years Elf Lyons has proven herself to be one of the fastest rising stars of comedy. From being a finalist in the Funny Women competition in 2013, she has since established herself on the London and UK comedy circuit, as well as having performed at leading arts festivals all around the world.  International performances have included Luxembourg’s Humour de la Paix Festival, Adelaide Fringe, Berlin Fringe as well as selling out two performances of Pelican at Paris’s Central Théâtre du Gymnase.  Arts festival performances include Latitude, VAULT Festival, Hay Festival and Mach fest.   Last year, Elf debuted her third solo hour, Pelican at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe to widespread critical acclaim – and subsequently toured the show around the UK in her first official UK tour, which was a resounding success.

As well as studying at the prestigious L’Ecole Philippe Gaulier, Elf was part of the Duckie Homosexualist Summer School 2016 at the Royal Vauxhall Tavern – a mentorship programme for emerging young queer performance artists aged 18-26 and has since launched a new queer LGBT comedy night The Matron Presents… at Her Upstairs, London. At the end of 2016, Elf has started developing several new projects and launched her new theatre company RARARATheatre. Their debut show will be Hilda & The Spectrum – a comedy written and performed by Elf Lyons and Ryan Lane – which Elf will also co-direct.  Elf also has extensive directing experience having directed for companies such as OddFlock, opera company Little Room Productions and OffCut Festival alongside mentoring and directing several performers and stand-ups with their solo shows at this year’s Edinburgh Festivals.

Earlier in 2017, Elf was commissioned to write and star in a video for BBC Comedy as part of their “Top 10” series (produced by Rumpus Media). She was announced as a part of the BBC New Talent Hot List 2017 as a performer and is currently developing a number of projects for television.
