Matt Winning: Climate Strange
Just The Tonic at The Mash House: 2nd – 26th August: 5pm
A Fringe show with meaning! After the success of last year’s show, the hilarious Dr Matt Winning is using the money he got through his Bulb’s renewable energy referral sign ups to bring Climate Strange to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe this year.
So we know we are destroying the environment through climate change (we’ve all watched Blue Planet), yet none of us are doing much about it. Even Matt is also thinking about doing the worst possible thing for the planet – having a child. The doctor is here to explain why we aren’t matching our knowledge with action and to take you on a journey to see if he can offset having a baby.
Scottish-born London-based Matt Winning is a comedian and a PhD wielding environmental economist who combined both his talents in his 2017 Edinburgh show Filibuster to great critical acclaim. He started his comedy journey in 2009 and quickly gained a reputation as an exciting new act after reaching the final of the Chortle Student Comedy Awards in 2010 and 2011, winning Hilarity Bites New Act of the Year 2011 and appearing in the final of the BBC New Comedy Awards in 2012.
On screen, Matt is the environmental correspondent on Matt Forde’s Unspun (Dave), has appeared in BBC Scotland’s Scot Squad and in Josie Long’s newest feature film Super November.
Matt is also the co-creator of the Bearpit Podcast Podcast along with John Kearns, Richard Gadd, Adam Hess, Fin Taylor, Mat Ewins and Lolly Adefope.
