Myra DuBois:
We Wish You A Myra Christmas

Underbelly Wee Coo – 1st – 26th August: 4pm

“Hilarious” – John Bishop
“Bust a gut funny” – Graham Norton

Come start the festive countdown early as Myra DuBois presents We Wish You A Myra Christmas at this year’s Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

Join Myra for some festive Fringe cheer with off-season seasonal sing-a-longs, summertime yule-tide and anecdotes from her Christmases past in the UK’s festival city. Christmas day the DuBois way with family feuds, alcohol abuse and (of course) Jesus, delivered with her acerbic wit and razor like tongue sharper than the turkey carving knife. Fun for most of the family…

Mastering her craft in the burlesque bars and homosexual haunts of London (Soho’s Madame JoJos, Camden’s The Black Cap and the legendary Royal Vauxhall Tavern to name a few), Myra has since managed to gain national exposure for herself on ITV’s Fool Britannia with Dom Jolly, BBC1’s The John Bishop Show and most recently as a regular panellist on C5’s Celebrity Big Brother’s Bit on the Side.

Swapping her native South Yorkshire for the capital in 2008 for a life in the spotlight, Myra found herself becoming a New Act of the Year 2012 Finalist before winning a in 2013. After seeing Myra’s performance of his song ‘I Know Him So Well’, Sir Tim Rice contacted Myra personally, declaring her rendition of the hit ‘definitive’ (it’s on Twitter if you don’t believe us) and inviting her to perform the song at a private gala in Mayfair. Myra can also count John Bishop and Graham Norton as celebrity-fans, both taking to twitter to voice their endorsement after seeing her 2017 Edinburgh show DuBois Entendre.

Myra made her critically acclaimed solo Edinburgh debut with Self AdMyra in 2016 which then went on to tour the UK in 2017, generating AdMyras (Myra’s pet name for her fans) across the nation.

Not one to forget her humble roots working the pubs, Myra can be found hosting her cult pub quiz “Myra’s Tuesday Pub Quiz” every – you’ve guessed it – Tuesday at ‘Her Upstairs’ in Camden. Myra made her pantomime debut in 2016 as ‘Nicole Hardup’ in Cinderella at the Harlequin Theatre in Redhill staring alongside the one and only Chesney Hawks. Myra proved to be that popular as one half of the Wicked Step-Sisters that producers Paul Holmon Associates offered her the solo role of ‘Dame Trott’ in 2017 at the Carrigeworks Theatre, Leeds. In 2018, Myra remains with the same company to play ‘Sarah the Cook’ in Hoddesdon opposite children’s TV legend and Edinburgh Fringe Favourite, Dave Benson Philips. In 2017 Myra was hand-picked to support Bianca Del Rio on her UK tour at the Troxy, London and St David’s Hall, Cardiff. In July 2018 Myra once again supports Bianca at the Apollo, Hammersmith before going on to Liverpool, Manchester, Glasgow before finishing at the Usher Hall, Edinburgh.

Myra’s annual Christmas shows have become an annual event with her fans, selling out the Charing Cross Theatre in 2016 and moving to The Clapham Grand in 2018. Myra is thrilled to be bringing some of that magic to the Fringe this August.

Myra DuBois’ “unofficial biographer” Gareth Joyner is also performing his new character comedy show Frank Lavender: GOTTA LAUGH at Laughing Horse @ The Counting House this year from the 1st– 26th August (not 18th) at 6pm.
