2018 Melbourne International Comedy Festival Barry Award – Nominee

After last year’s critically acclaimed sell-out success, Rose Matafeo is back at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe with her new show Horndog, which has just been nominated for the Barry Award at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival.

Rose Matafeo has kissed nearly 10 men in her life making her a total horn dog. But what exactly is horniness? Rose will guide you through it in her brand-new hour of stand-up, sketch and mid 20s angst, all from this award-winning comedian. The show has already been gained rave reviews over at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, now it is time for Edinburgh to meet Rose’s latest stand-up creation.

After winning the Billy T Award in 2013, Rose’s live work has gone from strength to strength. Her debut show, Finally Dead enjoyed a sell out run at the New Zealand Comedy Festival and was nominated for Best Newcomer at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival. Her follow-up show, Sassy Best Friend, enjoyed even more success winning the 2017 Fred Award for Best Show by a New Zealander at the New Zealand Comedy Festival. Sassy Best Friend was a sell-out show at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and officially one of the best reviewed comedy shows at the festival. It was then transferred to the Soho Theatre where not only did it sell-out but the run had to be extended to try and keep up with the demand for tickets. Rose has also been the tour support for Rob Delaney and Reggie Watts.

Rose has appeared on BBC3’s Pls Like and Climaxed, Have I Got News For You (BBC One) and BBC One’s W1A. She has performed stand-up on Comedy Central’s Stand Up Central and Dave’s Unspun with Matt Forde. She will soon be seen as a regular performer on Dave’s Ultimate Worrier, fronted by Jon Richardson. In New Zealand, Rose Matafeo is known as the star of hit TV3 shows Funny Girls, Jono and Ben and 7 Days.

Horndog is directed by Phoebe Bourke.
